Midfielder James Garner aims to make an impact at pre-season

James Garner claims his loan at Nottingham Forest helped him grow.

The Manchester United academy graduate bagged four goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances last season and helped Forest secure a return to the Premier League.

He is expected to be available in the pre-season under new manager Erik ten Hag who has reportedly promised him minutes at Old Trafford next season.

In total, he has made seven first-team appearances for the Red Devils and with Pogba and Matic leaving this summer, Garner could have some opened up space in the midfield.

“I’m not too sure (what will happen), personally. I’ve not had much time to think,” Garner told reporters.

“I’ve gone from Championship football straight to international football; I’ve not really had a breather or time to think.

“Well that’s the plan (to impress Ten Hag). That’s what I’d like to do; go on pre-season and impress, it’s all up to me, really. It’s down to me as a player to impress him and hopefully make a mark.”
