Jose Mourinho has accepted a 12-month prison sentence and a fine of close to €2.2 million after admitting to tax fraud in Madrid.

The former Manchester United manager has been found guilty of tax fraud like many other stars of football in Spain. Very recently another former Manchester United employee Cristiano Ronaldo was also found guilty of the same fraud in Spain while playing for Real Madrid.

Speaking to reporters outside court in Pozuelo de Alarcon in November 2017, Mourinho said: “I did not answer, I did not argue. I paid and signed with the state that I am in compliance and the case is closed.”

Before Jose fans start worrying however, where there beloved manager will spend next year, we can say for sure, that it will not be in prison despite the 12 month sentence!

This is because there is a rule in Spain that first time offenders punished by a crime with a sentence shorter than 24 months get a grant to pay fine and avoid jail time!

This allows Jose to stay scot free, despite a sizable loss in his finances, but more importantly he can choose a club of his liking instead of Madrid prison!
