Mourinho has praised Pogba performance by pointing him why he was effective in World Cup
Mourinho has subsequently asked French star Paul Pogba to understand why he was so important for the French side in the later stages of the World Cup.
Pogba netted a goal during the Finals of the World Cup against Croatia which resulted in a 4-2 win.
He was seen effective during the World cup while before the world cup he was mostly on bench under Mourinho.
While speaking during his first news conference of United’s pre-season tour of the United States, Mourinho has said that he has congratulated pogba on his effective performance during the later stage of World Cup.
He said, “I hope that he understands why he was very good,”
“I think that’s the point about his performance level and his contribution to a winning team – for him to understand why he was so good, especially in the second part of the competition. In the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final he was absolutely brilliant.”
“To win the World Cup can only be a positive thing. It’s difficult to say that to win the World Cup is not good for a player’s career. So many good players never have the change to be a world champion” he added.
“It’s a young [France] team, apart from [Olivier] Giroud, [Hugo] Lloris and a few others they are all young and have more years to play together”
He also said that, “The future for [Pogba] in the French national team, among that fantastic group of players, can only be brilliant.”
Mourinho admitted that he is unaware of whether Pogba will join Old Trafford or will fly back to his ex-club Juventus.
When asked about it, Mourinho said, “I have no idea, I’m not going to lie to you, I’m not going to say something is coming. I’m not going to say nobody is coming. I really don’t know.”
