Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said that he is unable to understand the reason behind Romelu Lukaku’s drop in form.

After having a pretty good World Cup in Russia, the expectations from Lukaku were very high this season. He started well by scoring  goals in Manchester United’s first five Premier League matches. However, he hasn’t scored a goal for the club since then.

It’s been 70 days since Lukaku last scored for Manchester United. He last started a match for the club more than a month back.

Mourinho went to Belgium to understand Lukaku’s situation. Lukaku has done brilliantly with Belgium after the World Cup. He played four matches, scoring 5 goals.

However, he missed Belgium’s matches against Iceland and Switzerland due to an injury.

Mourinho said, “I went (to) fundamentally be with Lukaku, to see his situation and his injury. Roberto invited me to meet him which I decided not to because I don’t like to disturb people before matches.

But I was with Roberto on the phone trying to understand the problem and evolution of the problem.”

Since Lukaku’s injury was not a major one, he should be fit enough to play today’s match against Crystal Palace. However, there’s no telling if he will start.

The 25-year old will look to give in a good performance today if he’s lucky enough to get involved in the match.
