Manchester United have reportedly extended midfielder Nemanja Matic’s contract. However, there are discussion of a further extension – or a fresh deal altogether.

Nemanja Matic’s contract at Old Trafford has been extended by another year currently. However, a new update came across that a new deal might be cut out altogether, which would include more years on the contract.

The 31-year old midfielder is in talks with a contract that could extend beyond 2021, so probably for the next 2-3 years.

Due to the injuries that Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay suffered, Matic became rather indispensable on the pitch thereon, with midfielder Fred by his side. He has missed three matches across all competitions since the year started.

Speaking to Stats Perform about his plans in December, the Serbian international said: “To be honest, I don’t know yet what I’m going to do.

“I spoke with the club, I said that until my last day at the club I will do my best and be professional.

“In football, you never know what’s going to happen. My family is happy here, I’m happy, so we will see what the next step is, if I will leave or stay, but whatever we decide I’m sure that we will decide for the best.”

His performance for Man United saw a run of 11 unbeaten matches in European and domestic games. With one year already confirmed for Matic, maybe some more can be added in the new contract.
