Marcus Rashford might be able to return to the Champions League with Newcastle United. Although it appears that the Manchester United forward’s time at Old Trafford is coming to an end, he has few other options.
Although it was believed that Rashford preferred Barcelona, the Catalan team has been considering alternative options. Luis Diaz and Nico Williams rank highly on their list, with Williams currently appearing to be the more likely candidate.
During the second half of the previous season, Rashford made an impression while on loan at Aston Villa. However, after Unai Emery’s team lost out on Champions League qualification on the last day of the season, a return to Villa Park seems doubtful.
Newcastle finished above Villa on goal differential to secure the Premier League’s final Champions League berth. The Sun now claims that they might be the ones to give Rashford another opportunity to play football in Europe.
Newcastle to sign Man United forward Marcus Rashford on loan
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is being courted by Newcastle United for a one-year loan. Given the volume of games they will play next season, Rashford is viewed as the perfect player to rotate with Alexander Isak, but his £325,000 weekly salary may prove to be a hindrance.
Man United would cover a significant portion of his salary for the entire season under a loan agreement, which is why they prefer it. Since the 27-year-old is no longer in head coach Ruben Amorim’s plans, it will be very beneficial for their finances to have his enormous salary taken off their bill. He has a contract with the Old Trafford club that expires in 2028.
Although completing a deal could be difficult, Newcastle wants to contend in every competition the following season, and having such a skilled and seasoned attacker in their ranks will greatly increase the depth of their squad.
