It’s official.

Manchester United have extended the loan deal for Odion Ighalo till January 2021.

The former Watford striker was playing for Shanghai Senua at the start of the 2020 calendar year. United having sold Lukaku failed to find a replacement in the next 7 months.

So on deadline day on January 31st, they scrapped through for a deal for 30-year-old Ighalo – to come to Old Trafford on loan till May 31st.

The player made a handful of appearances but appeared sharp for Ole’s man.

Unfortunately his loan spell was dated to expire on 31st of May, 2020. So United sought to extend the deal till January of 2021. This allows Ighalo to stay at the club to end the current season and a little longer until the club finds a long term replacement.

“They [Shanghai Greenland Shenhua] have been great towards us, allowing him to play for his dream club,” Solskjaer said.

“It’s been a dream for him and hopefully he can finish what he started and win a trophy with us.”

Ighalo along with Bruno Fernandes were two decent signings in January. Ole’s men are currently fifth in the rankings and raring to go to usurp Chelsea in that fourth spot and claim a place in the Champions League trophy next season.
