OFFICIAL: Man United confirm arrival of PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte

The striker Joe Hugill left Manchester United to spend the rest of the season on loan with Carlisle United in England. Hugill had served a six-month loan at Wigan Athletic before rejoining Ruben Amorim’s team earlier this month. The 21-year-old added five goals to his Wigan total, building on stints at Burton Albion and Altrincham, respectively. He scored the second goal in the Red Devils’ 2-0 friendly victory over Rangers in Edinburgh last summer while playing for the first team.

Man United released a statement on Friday that partially said, “Congratulations, Joe, and good luck in Cumbria.” In League Two, Carlisle is presently ranked 24th and is working to stay out of the National League. Mike Williamson, a former center-back for Newcastle United, is their manager. Hugill will, however, work with Callum Whelan, a recent signing from Gateshead and an Academy alumnus.

Man United player medical begins as Joe Hugill agrees terms

He signed a contract extension with United 12 months ago, and he is currently employed at Old Trafford through June 2026. Although the 21-year-old has yet to make his professional debut for the Red Devils, he was a prolific player at the junior level. As the bottom team in League Two, Carlisle faces the possibility of leaving the EFL for the first time since the 2004–05 campaign. Manager Mike Williamson has the Cumbrians seven points from safety. After United contract negotiations, Kobbie Mainoo’s top priority was made public.

He is now relocating to Brunton Park in an attempt to guide Carlisle, who are now seven points outside of safety, away from relegation to the National League. “Joe gives us pace and power, and he’ll bring another dimension to our play,” head coach Mike Williamson commented on the team’s official website. “He’s got goals in him, so we’re delighted he’s chosen to come to us.” With six players leaving this month, Hugill is the ninth player to join the Cumbrians.
