Manchester United boss seemed to have backed down on Jadon Sancho.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has changed his view on Sancho after the club tracked the England international for 18 months.

Solskjaer, previously, made it clear to Ed Woodward that he was reluctant to settle for anything less than Sancho.

But now negotiations with German side Borussia Dortmund is proving to be difficult and Solskjaer is looking at alternative transfer targets this summer.

Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele is one of the very few options but the Frenchman’s ongoing injury troubles would be a problem.

Bayern Munich man Kingsley Coman is one another option with the forward’s future questionable after the arrival of Leroy Sane from Manchester City at the Allianz Arena.

United could also be interested in Douglas Costa although the winger scored three goals in 29 appearances for Juventus this season.

ESPN pundit Stewart Robson feels Costa could be an ideal alternative to Sancho despite his struggles at Juventus.

“If you’re looking for a right-sided player that can come in onto his left foot and get crosses in and get shots away and link up with the front player, he’s an excellent player,” Robson told ESPN FC.

“He hasn’t really done anywhere near as well at Juventus as people thought he would.

“He’s had his injury problems, he’s had his disciplinary problems, he got sent off earlier on in the season, but on his day he’s still an excellent player and I don’t think he’s been given the opportunities that he would have hoped for.

“When he was at Bayern Munich he was a magnificent player and I think if he went to Manchester United, he could rediscover that form.

“So I think he would be a good alternative.”
