Ole Solskjaer Claimed Chilean Wanted To Stay At Manchester United Before Inter Links

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed that Alexis Sanchez wants to remain at Manchester United right before sources from Italy revealed that the Chilean has agreed personal terms with Inter Milan.

Now, that he is on the brinks of leaving Old Trafford, let us look at the statements Solskjaer passed regarding the 30-year-old.

“These stories that he’s been put in the reserves – of course, he hasn’t. He’s part of our squad and he’s a very good player. He’s a few weeks behind the rest but he’s very close to being part of it,” said the Red Devils boss. “We don’t have the biggest forward line so Alexis might end up playing a lot more games than you expect. We expect him to come good at this club. He’s quality.”

With Romelu Lukaku gone and the English transfer window shut down, it was not too hard to believe that United could keep Sanchez on for one more season at least.

“He’s very level-headed. He’s just as composed off the pitch as he is on the pitch,” Solskjaer added. “He’s experienced, he’s a big presence around the pitch. He’s a personality that you like to have around. To have a cool head at the back is important. Defenders that are level-headed are great to have for a manager and a team. He’s only been here for a little bit more than a week and he’s been very good to have around.”

This was all said on Friday, right before the Premier League weekend. There is no denying that removing Sanchez’s wages from the United books would be a huge plus for the immediate future but can the Red Devils actually get a move over the line?

They already registered a loss for Lukaku and are about to be left with a very shallow attacking lineup of only Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood.
