Ole Solskjaer Could Set Premier League Record By Avoiding Defeat Against Liverpool

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has an incredible opportunity to set a Premier League record with a win over Liverpool this weekend.

The Norwegian boss has overseen a remarkable start to his managerial career at Manchester United, leading the side to 11 wins in 13 games and collecting 25 points in 9 league games.

The current Premier League record is held by former Chelsea head coach, Guus Hiddink of collecting 25 points in his first 10 games in charge. The Dutchman has been credited with the streak since 2009 but Solskjaer has the chance to break the record by simply avoiding defeat against the Reds.

However, Liverpool’s title run this season does not make it that simple for United to move forward without taking a hit. Jurgen Klopp’s side have dropped down to a 3-point lead over Manchester City but are still at the very top of the standings.

United’s defence line could not hold up against Paris Saint-Germain’s front three even without the likes of Neymar and Edinson Cavani at Old Trafford. The past season Champions League finalists are expected to put even more pressure on the Red Devils especially with their attacking lineup of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah fully fit.

Solskjaer’s main motivation might not be to break a record but to solidify United’s claim to one of the top four spots. Chelsea and Arsenal are simply a point behind in the race for one of the Champions League spots.
