Ole Solskjaer Defends Andreas Pereira Amidst Exit Talks From Manchester United Fans

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ended his perfect record as Manchester United’s manager with a 2-2 draw against Burnley last night.

The Red Devils went 2-0 down from goals from Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes but managed to make a late comeback through Paul Pogba’s penalty and Victor Lindelof’s injury time equaliser.

The Norwegian head coach decided to rotate United’s squad for this particular fixture and handed starts to Romelu Lukaku, Juan Mata and Andreas Pereira. Unfortunately, the latter was caught in the middle of the park by Jack Cork which ended up costing United the first goal.

The Brazilian midfielder has hardly seen any minutes on the pitch and his mistake has enraged the fan base. When whether the decision to field Pereira was an error of judgement, Solskjaer said, “No. It was the right decision to make.”

“We had a couple of niggles and unfortunately he’s involved in the first goal but that’s the whole team. We played our way into trouble there. Instead of starting off with a forward pass we played it back to the keeper so that’s just another thing we have to learn from.”

Now Manchester United have dropped 2 points below Arsenal in the race to a top-four spot of the Premier League after the Gunners clinched a 2-1 victory over Cardiff City on the same night.

“It’s a learning process every game you play, and for me as well learning about the players when we went 1-0 down, and then 2-0 down,” Solskjaer added.

“But we still came back to get a point which was brilliant. Andreas will be better off for having this experience so no problem about that.”
