Ole Solskjaer Keen For Manchester United To Sign £50m Midfielder

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not let up on the pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder, Sean Longstaff.

Manchester United placed an initial bid of £25m for the Englishman this summer but was immediately rejected. They went back with £30m but the Magpies had no desire to budge from their £50m asking price.

The Red Devils shifted their attention towards acquiring Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire from the Premier League market. They also added Daniel James from Swansea City, who scored on his debut against Chelsea last weekend.

Solskjaer is keen to make further additions this season or the next. Tensions are high at Old Trafford over the transfer situation of Paul Pogba.

For now, a move has been reported to be put off but the Spanish transfer window is still open till September 2. Real Madrid might step up their attempts to sign the midfielder in the coming weeks.

Even with Pogba in the lineup, United need to find a replacement for Ander Herrera. The veteran midfielder, who completed a free move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer was instrumental during Solskjaer’s appointment as the interim head coach.

He formed the perfect partnership with Nemanja Matic to allow Pogba more offensive freedom. Solskjaer believes Longstaff can be the long-term replacement of the Spaniard and is eager to see United go back for him.
