Ole Solskjaer Wants Dayot Upamecano At Manchester United

Ole Solskjaer has been pushing for the signature of Dayot Upamecano this season.

According to the Sun, Upamecano’s release clause of £38m wil get activated next summer.

Seeing how he is one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe, that is a fee that is very affordable for United. Even through the financial pandemic, the Red Devils can easily cough up that amount for a player of his calibre and potential.

Manchester United are looking to make further additions in defence after the signing of Harry Maguire, Alex Telles and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to be not enough. Pairing Maguire with someone like Upamecano, who’s speed, athleticism and aggressive tackling style with match perfectly, seems like a no brainer.

The Red Devils are also looking at highly-rated Real Madrid man, Raphael Varane. United have been after the Frenchman for several years now and have a good chance of landing him soon. Varane is 27 years old, more experienced and has a contract which runs out in 18 months.

If United fail to get their hands on Upamecano, they will likely move for Varane. Right now, Solskjaer will want to keep his focus on the title charge. Eric Bailly has stepped up in defence to help United to the very top of the table.
