Wout Weghorst isn’t good enough for Manchester United.

January arrival Wout Weghorst joined the Red Devils on a six-month loan deal until the end of this season.

He has started all 13 games for United since his arrival in January and has been pivotal to United’s attack.

He has scored only one goal in 14 starts since joining the Red Devils and recently faced some criticism from United legends.

The 30-year-old has struggled to make an impact against Liverpool and was substituted in the 58th minute.

Club legend Paul Scholes has branded the Dutchman ‘a defender’ and doesn’t rate his attacking abilities.

He told Premier League Productions: “Weghorst is in the team to be a defender, really.

“You’re talking about a Manchester United number 10 or a centre-forward. He’s in the team to be defensive.

“He’s the one who runs about and rats about, and everybody likes playing with him because he does that.

“But quality-wise as well, you’ve got to have a certain level of quality to play for Man United… it’s not there.”
