Paris Saint-Germain are interested in United striker Odion Ighalo.

Ighalo was signed on loan by Manchester United by Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua in 2019 – and he has impressed since then. He has ended up scoring 5 goals across all club competitions and this is made United extend his loan till 2021.

However, Ighalo has not yet started a Premier League game and now his contract with Shanghai Shenhua shall be ending in 2021.

In a surprising turn of events, Ligue 1 side PSG are now considering bringing him to their side after Edinson Cavani made an exit and they are looking to add a striker to their squad. What appeals to PSG about Ighalo is his affordable rate along with a quality playing skill, according to a report by Foot Mercato.

PSG have now started preliminary talks with Nigerian international’s agent.

When Solskjaer was earlier asked about Ighalo and signing him on permanently at United, he admitted that Ighalo would need to prove himself to stay at the club.

“It’s a loan, but when you’re in the door and if you impress it gives you a chance,” said Solskjaer

“That’s exactly the same for everyone who signs if it’s permanent or it’s a loan. If you impress as a player, if you impress as a person, if you can help this group improve, then of course there’s a chance that we’ll look at extending things.

“I think he’s probably pinching himself at times, because he’s now at his favourite club at the age of 30.

“Hopefully he’ll prove to you what I think he will. He’s a proven goalscorer, so he’ll do all right.”
