According to a recent report from Fichajes, Manchester United has made an attempt to sign Fermin Lopez, a playmaker for Barcelona. The Red Devils reportedly made a bid of over €80 million to recruit the Spanish forward this summer.
Barcelona is allegedly taking the Old Trafford team’s initial offer under consideration after they expressed interest in the 22-year-old Spain international.
Lopez’s future at the Catalan team is questionable because head coach Hansi Flick has not assured him of consistent playing time, and he may go before the transfer deadline.
Although he has not officially hinted at a move to Manchester United, there is a sense that his exit from Nou Camp may be one of the greatest moves of the summer.
Fermin, who signed a new contract extension less than a year ago, has four years remaining on his deal. He made his professional Barcelona debut in August 2023.
Man United table £69 million offer for Barcelona midfielder
The 22-year-old Fermin’s promise throughout his two seasons with Barcelona has excited Man United, who have decided that he may provide youth and freshness to their midfield.
In order to persuade Barcelona to sell, Ruben Amorim’s team is apparently willing to give Fermin a leading role in the squad and is prepared to enhance their original offer. With 88 games, 19 goals, and 11 assists to date since his debut in 2023–2024, Fermin has established himself as a mainstay in Barcelona’s first team.
In 11 Champions League games, the incredible midfielder contributed five goals and helped the Catalans win both La Liga and the Copa del Rey last season. Manchester United is expecting a busy summer transfer window as they continue their hunt for a new midfield player and even a goalkeeper.
Notwithstanding the challenge of persuading the south coast club to sell, the Red Devils have set their sights on Brighton sensation Carlos Baleba and are still in negotiations with the 21-year-old.
United has spent more than £200 million on new players this summer, including Bryan Mbeumo, Diego Leon, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.
