Zinedine Zidane could lead the charge at Manchester United.

The Red Devils have sacked club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after their humiliating 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford this weekend.

A host of managers have been linked to Old Trafford with Zinedine Zidane being the most favourable candidate.

Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers have also been linked with the managerial role.

Zidane is currently available now who has won two La Liga titles and three successive Champions Leagues with Real Madrid and seems to be the ideal replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Keane told Sky Sports: ‘Why would Pochettino leave PSG at this present time? You’ve got [Kylian] Mbappe, Neymar and [Lionel] Messi.

‘United aren’t at the level they were a few years ago. A massive club, but in terms of where they [United] are now in the last three, four years, they haven’t been the Man United that we’ve known for the last 15 to 20 years.

‘I think Ole was probably just a stop-gap, he’s a lovely guy and will always be a club legend but for me always felt like a stop-gap.

‘For me I would say Zidane; he’s out there, he doesn’t have a job, he’s worked with [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Raphael] Varane – he knows them inside out and he’s won the Champions League with them.

‘In terms of someone who’s won a lot of things for me he’s the standout candidate.’
