David de Gea is expected to sign a contract extension in the summer.

The United goalkeeper currently earns £375,000 per week which makes him the highest earner at the club level and United wants to bring down the squad wages.

According to reports, United are confident of tieing their first-choice goalkeeper on reduced terms before the summer.

De Gea was awarded the Premier League’s Golden Glove title at Old Trafford yesterday.

Manager Erik ten Hag is confident that De Gea will sign a contract extension in the coming weeks.

But Roy Keane has instructed his former club to get rid of the Spaniard and sign a new number one this summer.

‘Manchester United had to improve defensively from last year because they were so bad,’ Keane said on Sky Sports.

‘They’re [United players] all patting De Gea on the back there…I’d move him on quickly. He wouldn’t be for me, he’s not going to get Manchester United back winning trophies, absolutely not.

‘The idea that the players are patting him on the back is ridiculous, that’s his job,’ he added.
