Following Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford, manager Ruben Amorim has pushed his team to boost their confidence. “Manchester United complicate our lives every time,” Ruben Amorim remarked following the victory against Chelsea.
When goalie Roberto Sanchez was sent off minutes into the match against Chelsea, United took the lead. With just four points from their first four league games this season, United was under pressure going into the contest. After fouling Bryan Mbeumo, Sanchez was sent off.
Following that, Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead, which Casemiro increased with a headed goal in the 37th minute. After Casemiro was given a second yellow card, which reduced United to 10 men, the game grew more challenging in the second half.
Trevoh Chalobah gave Chelsea a late goal to set up a nervous finish, but Amorim’s team held strong and won the game. After the victory, Amorim spoke calmly about the performance and emphasized the need of using this as a platform to keep getting better.
Ruben Amorim secured important win against Chelsea
“It was really important,” Amorim stated of the victory during his press conference after the game. We deserved it, in my opinion. However, we always make our lives more difficult. With our intensity and presence, I believe we got the game off to a great start.
“We were in charge and scored two goals, although of course, the goalie’s dismissal really aided us. Additionally, we made the sending off more difficult even when everything was going smoothly.
When asked if he witnessed the “aggression” he spoke about at his pregame news conference, Amorim responded, “I think if we try to remember the game, you can feel it, especially in the beginning.” I don’t recall the huge guy we used, and it’s 11 vs 11. That isn’t the point right now.
Amorim was quick to point out that his players needed to be more focused in front of the goal even if they had won. “To end the game sooner, we need to be more clinical. We must grab the chance to conclude the game because you never know what may happen when Casemiro is sent off,” he said.
