Sancho hints on returning to Dortmund after a rough patch in Manchester

Jadon Sancho, a winger for Manchester United, will not be travelling with the team this week to Spain

Sancho made a splash when he transferred from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United. The €85 million acquisition, though, hasn’t been able to match the form he showed in the Bundesliga since moving there in 2021.

The London-born forward has shown flashes of brilliance this season, scoring the game-winning goal against Leicester City and against Liverpool. Sancho is once again having difficulty and, more importantly, was left off of Gareth Southgate’s England roster for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This season, Sancho has played in just 10 Premier League games.

Sancho has since been dropped from the Manchester United team that is currently in Spain. He will instead follow a personal workout programme.

A transfer makes great sense from a sporting perspective for both parties. To potentially return, the former Dortmund player would need to make huge financial concessions. Sancho, who reportedly earns €18 million a season, is one of the top earners at Old Trafford. Three times as much as Sancho received when playing for Dortmund.

The winger may find a return to the comfortable surroundings that helped him become an elite player to be quite alluring. United, though, has a contract that runs until 2026 with a one-year extension option.
