Smalling Reveals What Eric Cantona And Sir Alex Ferguson Said To The Players After Win Against PSG

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has revealed what the club legends Eric Cantona and Sir Alex Ferguson had to say about their dramatic win against Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League. The Red Devils overturned a 2-0 deficit from the first leg played at Old Trafford as they scored three goals in the second leg to win it by 3-1 and advance to the next round of the competition. The aforementioned duo joined in the celebrations with the side in the dressing room after the match and Smalling has revealed what they said to congratulate the players.

He said, “I think moments like that you’ve just got to savour and take in. And obviously seeing Eric in the changing room, Sir Alex as well, you could just tell everyone was together.”

The English defensive star added, “It was great just to see everyone come together, all the board, the owners, obviously seeing Eric come through and everyone was singing his name. It was just a really good vibe in the whole changing room.”

On being asked what the former player and the manager said to the players, Smalling said, “There wasn’t really too much said, I think Sir Alex came round, shook everyone’s hand and said congratulations. Eric said a little bit actually, I think congratulations and just that he was proud to watch the team play and win like that. But generally just good, happy vibes. I think going there you’ve got dreams and hopes to be able to turn it around, but to do it in the way that we did, I think in the last minute, there’s just no better way to go through.”
