Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he is thrilled with his side’s attacking display against Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round clash at the Emirates Stadium. The Red Devils extended their winning run to eight matches under their new manager as they took the Gunners to the sword to win the contest by 1-3. Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial scored one goal apiece for their side while Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang scored the solo goal for the hosts on the night.

Speaking to MUTV after the match, Solskjaer said, “If you go through the history and the games we’ve played against Arsenal that’s how it is.”

He added, “I remember a goal I scored in 1997 after we defended a corner – it went from Giggsy [Ryan Giggs] to Karel [Poborsky] to Andy [Cole] and into me. Everyone knows about the classic Champions League goal [in 2009] with Ji [Park Ji-sung], Cristiano [Ronaldo] and Wayne [Rooney] running forward. Wazza has scored a couple more like that, as has Ji, so the counter-attacking threat that we have is in our history against Arsenal.”

Speaking of his tactic of using Romelu Lukaku on the wing, who dished out two assists in the first half to set up Sanchez and Lingard, the Manchester United gaffer said, “Rom has played there for Belgium and Everton. It’s a tactic we can use and we know how strong he is. He held the ball up and ran the channel. It was a fantastic pass for Alexis’ goal. It was a great finish.”
