Manchester United have fallen quite a way since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
The success the Scot brought to the club has long been replaced by managerial changes, transfer failures and the board’s incompetency.
United now are a club going through the motions and a giant fast falling into the nothingness. They need to revitalize their team.
The club is not all destroyed though as they do have players in midfield and especially in attack who can change the game at the drop of a hat.
However, one area that looks well below average for the Red Devils is that of defence. The United central defence consists of players who are not worthy of the badge.
They need a Van Dijk of their own who can take the defence by the scruff of its neck and make it all powerful and difficult to break.
Hence, the only man in the current market who can do that is Kalidou Koulibaly. There are other choices of course in Matthjis De Ligt and Harry Maguire. However, even though De Ligt and Maguire are very good defenders in their own right, Koulibaly is a leader who can marshal the defence, which is exactly what United need.
