Three Serie A clubs are interested in signing Manchester United star

The player was linked with an exit before transfer deadline

Matteo Darmian joined Manchester United from Torino for an undisclosed fee believed to be £12.7 million, signing a 4 year contract with an option to extend it by further 1 year in 2015.

The Italy International made significant contributions during his first season with the Red Devils but struggled to establish himself as a regular for the club. He has just managed to make 86 appearances since joining them.

The 28 year old struggled to make an impression under Jose Mourinho and fell behind the pecking order, with the manager preferring Antonio Valencia ahead of him. He just managed to make 16 appearances in all competitions last term.

The Premier League giants completed the signing of teenage full back Diogo Dalot from Porto during the transfer window which indicated that the Italian’s future at Old Trafford might be over.

He was heavily linked with a return to his homeland throughout the summer with Napoli were reportedly interest in signing him. Both the manager and the player himself confirmed that he wants to leave Old Trafford before the transfer deadline.

However, the Premier League giants refused to release the full-back for less than €20 million, so the the Italian side dropped their interest in him and looked for alternative options.

His current deal set to expire next summer though the club has the option to extend it by another year. But he just has featured once in the Premier League this season and it is very unlikely his current deal would be extended.

Darmian has suitors in Serie A, according to CalcioMercato.

Roma, Inter and Juventus are still after him and are hoping to sign him on a free transfer. The player would also be willing to leave Old Trafford in order for more game time.
