Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney had some wonderful moments at Manchester United. Giggs has the highest number of appearances under his belt while Wayne Rooney is currently the record scorer for the club with 253 goals.

Giggs retired in 2014 and became a member of Louis van Gaal’s coaching entourage at the club for a brief period. The 45 year old is now managing his country Wales.

Rooney ended his United career back in 2017 and went on to rejoin his childhood side Everton.

Legends

Bobby Charlton is regarded as the greatest ever British player to don the Manchester United shirt. The 81 year old won the first European trophy for United in the 1967-68 season and also led England to their only World Cup title in 1966.

The decorated midfielder also has three top flight titles in his tally and he currently serves as a director on the Manchester United board.

Current situation

I suspect a number of players are going to leave Manchester United in the summer this year. Club veterans like Antonio Valencia will leave the club. While questions still remain over the futures of Eden Paul Poga.

But even if those players go, there is still hope that The Red Devils can get better players in the summer and hopefully we can have a good season 2019/20.

Current Squad

Manchester United have a good mixture of experience and youth players. The likes of Ashley Young, David De Gea and Nemanja Matic have been sharing dressing room with the likes of Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong which could have a massive effect on their mental and tactical awareness.

The emergence of Victor Lindelof in the defence has been a big boost for the Red Devils. The Swedish defender took some time to acclimatise with the English conditions and showed his maturity and calmness to thwart out the opposition attack.

Luke Shaw has also been an inspiration. The left back had looked to be on its course towards a premature exit but his brilliant performance compelled the club to reward him with a new contract,

No midfielder has scored more goals than Paul Pogba in the Premier League this term. Despite being inconsistent the 26 year old has banged 13 goals in the English top flight.

In the attack, the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial lacked the intent but showed flashes of brilliance which could be used by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the next season.
