Manchester United’s outcast midfielder Donny van de Beek has now been backed to thrive under Ten Hag next season

Erik ten Hag, the current Ajax manager, is slated to take charge at Old Trafford this summer, and major changes to the team are expected. Manchester United have had a disastrous season, and their 4-0 defeat against Brighton earlier this weekend guaranteed a record-low points count.

Ten Hag is still seeking a third consecutive Eredivisie title, but he might win it as soon as next week, implying that the focus will soon move to turning around United’s problems.

Van de Beek is presently on loan at Frank Lampard’s Everton, and after a promising start to his six-month stint on Merseyside, injuries have slowed his progress, with only one appearance since March.

Former Ajax player Leon Gergsma has now backed the 25-year-old, who did not start a single league game this season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Ralf Rangnick, to rebuild his career under Ten Hag.

Van de Beek was instrumental in Ajax’s journey to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019, and he was likely the most pleased with Ten Hag’s hiring.

United’s big-money additions have failed to deliver, and if Ten Hag believes Van de Beek is part of the answer to United’s never-ending problems, supporters will back him up. In reality, the Dutch international has been treated unfairly for far too long.
