Monday, 28th October 2024 – Following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has been backed into 1/2 with William Hill to be the next permanent Manchester United manager.

The ex-United striker is followed in the market by current Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim at 4/1, with former England manager Gareth Southgate, who had been strongly linked with the job after his departure from the Three Lions, closely following at 9/2.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Breaking news of Erik ten Hag and Manchester United parting ways has seen a member of Ten Hag’s backroom staff Ruud Van Nistelrooy plummet into odds of 1/2 to be the next permanent manager at the club.

“Ruben Amorim, who has been heavily linked with a move out of Portugal, follows in the market at 4/1, while Gareth Southgate is a 9/2 chance for the job.
