Van Nistelrooy odds-on to be next permanent Man Utd manager after Ten Hag sacking
Ex-Man Utd striker now 1/2 favourite, Amorim (4/1) and Southgate (9/2) also in running

Monday, 28th October 2024 – Following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has been backed into 1/2 with William Hill to be the next permanent Manchester United manager.
The ex-United striker is followed in the market by current Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim at 4/1, with former England manager Gareth Southgate, who had been strongly linked with the job after his departure from the Three Lions, closely following at 9/2.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Breaking news of Erik ten Hag and Manchester United parting ways has seen a member of Ten Hag’s backroom staff Ruud Van Nistelrooy plummet into odds of 1/2 to be the next permanent manager at the club.
“Ruben Amorim, who has been heavily linked with a move out of Portugal, follows in the market at 4/1, while Gareth Southgate is a 9/2 chance for the job.
“Xavi Hernandez, most recently of Barcelona is a 6/1 shot after rumours swirl around his future, with Thomas Frank (7/1), Graham Potter (8/1) and Kieran McKenna (11/1), also all in the running if United look to someone with Premier League experience.”
