Manchester United are interested in signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona
The Red Devils are expected to make a bid for the Dutch midfielder during the summer transfer window.
De Jong is having another strong season at the Nou Camp, where he has produced a string of steady performances at the heart of Xavi’s midfield. During this season, the 25-year-old has played 45 games for the Catalan giants, scoring four goals and earning five assists.
In La Liga, the Dutch wonder has averaged 1.1 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 0.5 clearances, 0.5 shoots, 1.4 vital passes, and 1.6 dribbles per game. He’s also been precise with his ball distribution, having a 91.3 percent success rate.
De Jong can make some strong tackles when he’s confident on the pitch and is also a good ball distributor. He can detect danger and contribute by making crucial interceptions in the centre of the field. The Dutch midfielder can even generate a few clear-cut opportunities for his teammates in the final third, as well as contribute with goals from midfield.
De Jong’s skill set and talent will be a terrific addition to Man United’s roster ahead of the new season. Next season, he will provide additional energy and vitality to the midfield of Manchester United’s new manager, Erik ten Haag.
De Jong, 25, is about to enter the golden years of his playing career and might help Manchester United reduce the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League. As a result, when the transfer market reopens later this year, it makes sense for Manchester United to orchestrate a deal to bring the Dutch prodigy to Old Trafford.
