Di Maria was forced to wear Number 7 at United

Manchester United have made quite a few blunders in the last few seasons.

Ever since the great Sir Alex Ferguson left the club, the place has run on fumes and they have run the club more like a profit centre for business than a football institute.

They have done everything they can to capitalize commercially leaving the human and football factors in shambles.

The current duo of Ed Woodward, a director who knows nothing about football and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a manager who knows nothing about management has correctly portrayed the sad story of the club.

It seems though they have hit a new bottom with a new story revealed by former Red Devils winger Angel Di Maria.

Di Maria was signed as a superstar signing, one of United’s many commercial gimmicks and given the legendary number 7 jersey of Manchester United. However, is that what he really wanted?

“I don’t really know. When I arrived, I saw that the No.11 was available”, he said when asked why he took number 7.

“It’s a shirt number I wore a lot when I was younger and I was keen to get once again. At Real Madrid, No.11 was already taken, so I took 22. At Manchester United they gave me No.7, I didn’t get a choice. I would have liked 11 but there we are. Here (at PSG), I had a choice, so I chose 11!”

Oh dear, why United? Talk about a classic overkill.
