Parker, who represented the Three Lions plenty of times, delved into the variety of options Gareth Southgate has at right-back.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has climbed up to be top choice but there seems to be strong competition from the likes of Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James.
“As a defender there is no one in England as good as Wan-Bissaka, he is like Des Walker, but on the other side of it, going forward, he still has a lot to learn,” Parker told Tribal Football.
“James is too early to play for England and not a regular at Chelsea yet. But he has done very well and dug deep in the lower divisions in Wigan, and being a regular at your isn’t always necessary to play for your national side.”
Parker is not too sold on Alexander-Arnold’s defensive abilities. The Liverpool fullback is widely praised for his abilities going forward but many have critiqued his defensive output.
“Alexander-Arnold plays in a team where he is always crossing and getting forward, so his involvement in attacking areas is more than other full backs,” Parker added. “But I always judge a full-back on their defensive work.”
