Gary Neville takes another dig at Ed Woodward

Ed Woodward resigned as United’s executive vice-chairman.

Woodward announced his departure as the vice-chairman after the fallout from the collapse of the European Super League.

United owners, The Glazer Family, were one of those who spearheaded the competition.

The Super League crumbled just 48 hours after it was announced as all the six English clubs pulled out of the competition.

Man United revealed in a statement that Woodward would be leaving his role at the end of this season and claimed the decision was not linked to the Super League scandal.

Gary Neville said that we pleased with Woodward’s decision to leave the club.

“We obviously don’t know why the timing is now. The leeches could have thrown him [Woodward] under a bus, there’s no doubt about that,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

“Or it could be that the sensible thing has happened, that Ed Woodward knew it was going to get too hot in the kitchen for him in the next few months and he needed to get out of there.

“Ed Woodward knew his time in football was finished, probably this morning, and he’s probably done that to keep away from the criticism that would’ve come his way in the next few months.”
