Jose Mourinho is worried about his future at Manchester United

0

Reports suggest that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is concerned about his future at the club.

There have been plenty of rumors that Manchester United will replace Mourinho with Zinedine Zidane who earlier expressed his desire to come back to management.

Manchester United have endured their worst ever start to a Premier League campaign with just 10 points from 7 matches. They are also out of the Carabao Cup after losing to Derby County on penalties.

Mourinho has received plenty of criticism for his team’s results and his future at Old Trafford is at stake.

Reports state that Zidane lately called Mourinho. The former Real Madrid was worried that Mourinho might think he is applying for the managerial job behind his back and called Mourinho in order to ease those worries.

Reports also claim that Zidane told Mourinho that his representatives asked him about the Manchester United job.

Things are looking gloomy for Manchester United, specially after their 3-1 defeat to West Ham. Following that loss, club legend Rio Ferdinand said Manchester United need to make some big decisions.

The Red Devils play Valencia in a Champions League fixture tomorrow before taking on Newcastle on Saturday.

Luke Shaw apologises to fans after West Ham defeat

Manchester United left-back has apologised to the fans after their 3-1 defeat to West Ham on Saturday.

The Red Devils have suffered their worst ever start to a Premier League season with only 10 points in 7 matches. They are currently 10th in the table.

This defeat has led many to believe that Jose Mourinho will receive the sack soon. However, Shaw said that the players must also take their fair share of responsibility in the defeat.

Shaw said, “If you want the truth I think it was honestly horrendous. We didn’t look like a team today that was going to beat West Ham. I think individually and as a team we were awful. That’s not good enough.

It’s hard to take and we’re sorry to the fans for what they saw. It was not good enough from a Manchester United team with all the talent we have. It’s disappointing and a very, very bad day for us.

We have to look at ourselves as players. We’re the ones who go on the pitch. The manager isn’t on the pitch, is he? He’s there to put a team out and put a team out that he thinks can win the game.

You look at our team against West Ham and we had a very strong team. No excuses. As players we weren’t good enough.”

West Ham opened the scoring in the 5th minute thanks to Felipe Anderson before an own goal from Victor Lindelof doubled their lead at the interval.

Shaw said that Mourinho spoke some firm words in the dressing room. The left-back said, “From the first minute you could see we weren’t winning the second balls and our duels.

It’s hard to take. It just wasn’t good enough from us. That shouldn’t be happening. Games like this we should be dominating, creating chances, showing people why we deserve to play for Manchester United. It was very poor from us. Very, very poor. We didn’t speak too much but obviously at half-time there were a few words and I think it was needed.

It was, ‘Wake up!’ and words that he’s said before – we need to be moving, we need to concentrate more, we need to want the ball, we need to be playing. But that didn’t happen.”

Manchester United will try to get back to winning ways when they take on Valencia at home tomorrow. Valencia have endured a worse league start than United, having won only 1 out of their first seven matches.

Manchester United resume their Premier League campaign on Saturday against Newcastle United.

Alan Shearer slams ‘pathetic’ Paul Pogba

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has slammed Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and said that he is nowhere close to the club’s legends.

Manchester United have endured their worst ever start to a Premier League campaign. The Red Devils have gained 0nly 10 points from 7 matches so far.

Manchester United appeared to improve when they won three straight games after two consecutive Premier League defeats. However, they drew against Wolves before losing to Derby County at the Carabao Cup and to West Ham on Saturday.

Pogba’s performances have been pretty inconsistent this season. Also, there are plenty of doubts lingering about his future at Old Trafford. There are number of reports that have suggested a rift between Pogba and Jose Mourinho.

Shearer backed Mourinho, saying that the Portuguese manager deserves more than he is getting.

He said, “Paul Pogba is Manchester United’s record signing. Just take that in for a moment and consider all the great players who have played for this club. Despite being a World Cup winner, he cannot lace the boots of those whose names will go down in history at Old Trafford.

He was pathetic again at West Ham and was that bad that Mourinho had to drag him off as he was offering nothing. If he is looking to get the manager out then he is doing a much better job of that than playing football, as his team-mates were not much better.”

Even though Shearer showed a little sympathy towards Mourinho, he criticised the Portuguese for his strategies against West Ham.

Shearer said, “A manager of Mourinho’s stature and an incredible CV does not deserve this. Yet is he blameless? What on earth was he doing tactically in the 3-1 defeat at West Ham?

Playing a young midfielder in Scott McTominay in a back three with Eric Bailly on the bench. If you are trying to make a point about a failure to buy a centre-half in the summer then you do it in better ways than by sacrificing three points.”

Manchester United play a Champions League fixture against Valencia at Old Trafford tomorrow. United won their previous Champions League fixture against Young Boys and will hope to do the same thing tomorrow.

Following their match against Valencia, Manchester United take on Newcastle on Saturday.

The Red Devils lost against West Ham United on Saturday

Jose Mourinho prioritized bolstering Manchester United squad in the summer transfer window after not winning a single silverware last season. They signed Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant before the transfer deadline.

However, the Portuguese was not happy with the outcome of the transfer window as he wanted few more players especially a high profile centre-back and a direct, fast winger to complete his squad.

The Premier League giants are struggling right now after failing to win their last 3 fixtures. They have made their worst start to a Premier League season ever, and the slowest in England’s top flight since 1989-90.

The club’s problems deepened as they followed up a home draw with Wolves and the Carabao Cup defeat by Derby with a tepid display in a 3-1 defeat at the London Stadium. They have won only 3 league fixtures so far and are on 10th position in the table

United’s legend Gary Neville believes club’s hierarchy, and not manager Mourinho, are to blame for the club’s current plight.

“This mess started when United sacked David Moyes after 8 months and we lost all sense of the values that the club had been built on for 100 years,” he wrote on Twitter as quoted by Goal

“It’s not the manager it’s the lack of football leadership above him. They are bouncing all over the place with no plan!”

He added: “That’s another question but when they sacked him after eight months it went into pinball, reactive mode and chasing it! No plan…”

The Red Devils will be facing Valencia next in the Champions League and will hope to return to the winning ways after a very difficult week.

Ashley Young insists the club must bounce against Valencia in the Champions League following defeat to the Hammers. They won their Champions league opener against Young Boys.

‘You’ve got to put it behind you quickly and when you have these types of results you want a game as quickly as possible,’ wing-back Young told the club’s website quoted by Daily Mail.

‘We’ve got that in a couple of days time, so we’ve got to dust ourselves off quickly and get rid of the disappointment.’

Manchester United legend believes have big decisions to make over Jose Mourinho's future

He feels the Red Devils could be heading towards one of their worst seasons ever

Jose Mourinho was appointed as Manchester United manager back in 2016, taking over the charge from Louis Van Gaal. He guided the team to win League and Europa League, which ensured their return to the Champions League.

The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League behind Manchester City last season, their highest ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. They also reached the FA Cup final but were beaten by Chelsea.

The manager wanted quality additions during this summer transfer window after signing the likes of Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba etc in the the past transfer windows. Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant joined the squad this summer.

But the club failed to sign any more players the Portuguese wanted, especially a high profile centre-back and openly expressed his disappointment for not getting the players.

The Premier League giants are struggling right now after failing to win their last 3 fixtures. They have made their worst start to a Premier League season ever, and the slowest in England’s top flight since 1989-90, with a 3-1 defeat to West Ham on Saturday.

It was a result that came in the aftermath of a week that saw them dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Derby.

The manager’s future has been called into question after a poor start to the new campaign and reported fall out with some of the players.

United legend Rio Ferdinand feels the club have big decision to make over Mourinho’s future and feels they could be heading towards one of their worst seasons ever.

“There will be conversations at the top level about the future of the manager and the squad,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“The basics are not being done and something has to be said.

“You can’t let a situation like this continue throughout the season – wars in the press, leaks, players on one side of the dressing room, Mourinho and his staff on the other. If that continues this will be one of the worst seasons in the club’s history.”

Mourinho explains Sanchez omission for West Ham game

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho said why he dropped Alexis Sanchez for yesterday’s match against West Ham.

West Ham stunned Manchester United 3-1. Felipe Anderson opened the scoring for West Ham after just 5 minutes before Victor Lindelof scored an own goal to double their lead.

United found some hope when Marcus Rashford pulled one back. However, just three minutes later, Marko Arnautovic added a third for West Ham.

As a result of the loss, Manchester United are in 10th place in the Premier League table.

Jose Mourinho said that West Ham’s first goal was an offside. He said, “I think a team that comes with that mental fragility of the bad results and is losing 1-0 after 5 minutes isn’t the best way to start. It was an offside goal.

We had a good reaction in the first half but an own goal makes 2-0. We know Yarmolenko is left footed and we weren’t aggressive or intense enough to close that shot.”

Mourinho praised the West Ham defence for keeping the Manchester United attackers at bay. He said, “The centre backs had a fantastic match. Congratulations to the scout that found a 21-year-old kid in [Issa] Diop. He’s a monster and dominated everything.”

Regarding the third goal, Mourinho said, “The third goal isn’t a mistake from the linesman but rather the referee, it was a clear foul on Rashford from Zabaleta.”

About Sanchez’s omission, Mourinho stated, “Look for how many months are people asking for [Anthony] Martial, Martial, Martial and saying how Alexis isn’t playing well enough. This week it was time to agree and leave Alexis out.”

Mourinho was impressed with the performance of 21-year old Scott MctTominay. He said, “He was the best, he had a fantastic attitude, he has great talent on the ball and I’m really happy with the job the kid did.”

Manchester United next play Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday before playing Newcastle United on Saturday.

Manchester United failed with a bid for Premier League star over the summer

Jose Mourinho could make another move

Manchester United failed with a £50 million bid for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey over the summer, according to beIN Sport.

Gunners rejected the bid for his services this summer as they appeared confident of keeping him for a foreseeable future.

The Wales International  has entered the final of 12 months of his current deal and yet to commit himself to a long term agreement. Talks have been going on with his representative for a new contract over the past few months that have yet to result in agreement.

London Outfit’s new manager Unai Emery even insisted before the start of the current campaign that he sees the Wales International as a key part of his future plans and has urged the club to offer him a new contract.

However, the midfielder has featured in all the club’s Premier League fixtures so far this season and came on as a substitute against Brentford in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. After losing first two games of the campaign, they have won their next 6 in a row.

But reports emerged on Thursday that talks over a new deal has broke down and the 27 year old has reportedly turned down club’s latest offer. With no new offer forthcoming it was suggested he will be made available in the January transfer window, with clubs like Juventus, AC Milan and Chelsea interested in signing him.

That could tempt Jose Mourinho into making another move, with the Welshman among those he would like to have on his books at Old Trafford. The Portuguese is keen to bolster the squad in the January transfer after a difficult start to the new campaign.

Five other European clubs are also interested in signing him

However, the Portuguese was not happy with the outcome of the transfer window as he wanted few more players especially a high profile centre-back and a direct, fast winger to complete his squad.

After losing 2 consecutive games in the Premier League, the Red Devils were looking to be back on track after winning three games in a trot.

They were looking to make it 4 on a run against Wolves on Saturday and started positively after Fred opened the scoring, his first for the club. But they were held to a draw after they conceded a goal in the second-half, much to the frustration of the Portuguese.

However, it has been suggested that the manager will look to make few additions in the January transfer window to mount a Premier League title challenge and will be backed by the club.

Manchester United have joined the race for Cagliari star Nicolo Barella, according to Football Italia.

The midfielder came through the academy ranks of the Italian side and made his league debut back in 2015. He was sent on loan to Como in Serie B in January 2016 hand has been a key player for the club since he returned from his loan spell.

The 21-year-old sensation already received his first senior Italy call-up and has made a big impact at his hometown club. This season, he netted one goal in six Serie A appearances, but above all made numerous crucial tackles and interceptions.

It has been suggested the Serie A giants will demand €40 million for their prized asset and clubs like Liverpool, Inter, Juventus, Roma and AC Milan are also interested in signing him.

Jose Mourinho warns his players ahead of West Ham clash

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has said that he is expecting more from his players.

The Red Devils have had a roller coaster of a Premier League season so far. Successive defeats to Brighton and Tottenham followed an opening win against Leicester City.

They appeared to improve when they won their next two league matches and their Champions League opener against Young Boys. However, they drew 1-1 against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.

Things got even worse on Tuesday as United exited the Carabao Cup after losing to Derby County on penalties. This was Derby County’s 2nd League Cup win over Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho has said that some of his players need to learn from their mistakes. However, he also said that there isn’t a player who can’t take the pressure of playing for Manchester United.

Mourinho said, “I don’t think any player is afraid to play for the club. But I sometimes feel frustrated because the work we do and what we give to the process, I’m always expecting more. Especially I’m expecting more in terms of stability in the process.

It looks like when we feel we’re really improving and playing better and having a good run of results, it looks like there’s always a little going down in terms of the focus or the motivation.

That’s why, when I come to you, you never see me speaking like I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow – I expect to win tomorrow. I expect to play very well tomorrow.

I don’t come here and say the training session wasn’t very good, the players are not committed and I have a bad feeling.

No, I have the feeling that tomorrow we are not going to play very well, that we are not going to win. That’s why after matches sometimes I have the feeling that I’m frustrated or surprised by a lack of concentration or apparent – I repeat apparent – lack of commitment and lack of attitude.

Maybe people think that sometimes the boys are not committed, maybe people can think the manager doesn’t demand enough from them, maybe people think on the training ground we don’t train enough this area or that area. That’s quite frustrating.”

Manchester United are currently 7th in the Premier League table with 10 points. They take on West Ham today at London. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are 17th in the table but they’ll surely tough fight to United.

The Hammers ended Chelsea’s winning run last weekend by holding them to a 1-1 draw.
