The 28-year old midfielder has been the subject of an intense transfer rumour with West Ham aiming to sign him on a permanent deal.
He spent a successful loan spell at West Ham last season scoring nine goals and assisting in another five in 16 Premier League appearances.
After a 2-1 win in a friendly match against Derby County, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that he expects Lingard to be available at the start of the new season.
The Norwegian manager said: “He was one of the positives. He’s a Manchester United player and he wants to fight for his place.
“He’s come back bright, confident and with lots of energy. I think everyone saw what he did at the end of last season with West Ham.
“He’s still in my plans. I expect him at Man Utd at the start of the season.”
