Manchester United joins the race to sign Ligue 1 star

Another Premier League club are interested in signing him

Jose Mourinho prioritized signing a fast, direct winger during the summer transfer window as Manchester United lacks a proper right sided winger. Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez all prefers to play in the left flank and wanted someone to play from the right.

The Red Devils were heavily linked with a move for the players like Willian, Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic before the transfer deadline. But the club failed to sign any one much to the disappointment of the manager.

However, it has been suggested the the Portuguese is still keen to sign a winger and a high profile centre-back during the January transfer window in order to mount a Premier League title this season.

Manchester United have started to monitor Lille attacker Nicolas Pepe, according to TF1.

The winger joined the French side last summer for an undisclosed fee, signing a 5 year contract. He established himself as a regular for the club last season and managed to score an impressive 13 goals.

The Ivory Coast International has started the new campaign on fire  with four goals and three assists in his opening five Ligue 1 matches.

The 23 year old’s impressive performances have already attracted scouts from Sevilla and Arsenal. He even turned down the chance to leave LOSC in the summer, with Southampton and Lyon closest to securing his signature.

Mourinho’s side are ready to steal a march on their rivals by making a move. Lille know his signature is in high demand and are holding out for a £30m offer before they decide to let him leave.
