Gary Neville Believes Manchester United Should Wait A Bit Long Before Giving Ole Gunnar Solskaer The Permanent Charge

Gary Neville feels Manchester United shouldn’t rush in naming Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the permanent manager.

Following a string of good results, the interim manager is leading the race to fill in the post of the vacant permanent managerial post. The Red Devils are about to enter the most crucial phase of the current campaign which could define their remainder of the season.

United are set to face Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, and Liverpool in a gap of 12 days. They will then travel to Paris to take on PSG in the second leg of the round of 16 Champions Leg tie on 7th March followed by a trip to Arsenal and a home game against title holders Manchester City.

Neville said, “I think it’s too early to give him the job now. I think coming out of March is the right time to appraise it, then look at April with six weeks to go, make a decision considered over a three or four-month period, how the club are feeling, how the players are feeling, and what the results are.

“That’s not because they have seven or eight tough games, I just think it’s sensible to reflect over a three or four-month period, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is putting himself in with a major shout of getting the job.

“If Manchester United continue in this way until the end of the season and get into the top four then the risk with not giving Solskjaer the job would be huge.
