Paul Pogba returned to Manchester United in the summer of 2016, on a five-year contract for a then-record for highest football transfer fee at £89.3 million. He left the club to join Juventus in 2012 for more game time, where he established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.

The France International started off the last season off positively but was benched following a few poor performances. His form was often questioned last season and was even criticized by Jose Mourinho himself.

Though the 25 year old responded with brilliant performances towards the end of the season and won the United’s Player of the month for April. He ended the season with 6 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.

There was heavy speculations throughout the summer that the midfielder’s relation with Jose Mourinho is not good and they weren’t even in speaking terms. As a result he was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona during the transfer window but a move never materialised.

However, the Portuguese later clarified that he has no problems with the player and claimed he is happy with him. He has featured in all the Premier League fixtures so far this season.

The midfielder has started in all the Premier League fixtures so far this and has been one of the standout players, scoring 2 goals. He was instrumental in their win over Young Boys in the Champions League, scoring twice before half-time and setting up Anthony Martial’s third midway through the second period.

Mourinho hailed Pobga’s performance as class and was fulsome in his praise for the World Cup winner.

“He felt tired in the last part of the game but it was a good performance,” Mourinho told BT Sport as quoted by Goal.

“[He was] solid, class and gave the team the pace we needed at times. He controlled the tempo and of course it was a very good goal.”

“The penalty showed his personality as when you miss one you normally have doubts, but there were no doubts from him.”
