Man United are looking to sign Matthijs de Ligt following his snub over the weekend.

Man United are keen on signing Matthijs de Ligt. They are on red alert over the availability of Bayern Munich defender. He has worked with Erik ten Hag during his time at Ajax.

The Dutchman was a key figure in Ajax’s run to the 2018-19 Champions League semi-finals. He later moved to Juventus and then, made a switch to Bayern in 2022. He has struggled under the manager Thomas Tuchel.

Bayern signed Kim Min-jae arriving from Napoli to compete with De Ligt and Dayot Upamecano at the back. The Dutchman also suffered a knee injury.

The 24-year-old made five starts for Bayern in the Bundesliga this year and scored a goal against Borussia Monchengladbach. However,  he was dropped to the bench for an important clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

De Ligt was an unused substitute and Bayern lost the game against the leaders 3-0. Bayern are five points behind Xabi Alonso’s men at the top of the table.

As per the reports of the Mirror, Man United are looking to sign this talented man following his snub over the weekend. His contract will expire in three-and-a-half years.

Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans will become free agents at the end of the season. Erik ten Hag is now planning to change the backline ahead of the new season.
