Manchester United Midfield Target Slips Out Of Their Hands

Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit for Bruno Fernands.

The Sporting Lisbon midfielder signed a contract extension after flirting with potential suitors all of last season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been after Fernandes for a while now. The United brigade are in search of creative talent and Fernandes’ stats from last season made a solid case. He scored 32 goals and furthered 18 assists last term.

Tottenham Hotspur were also running after the Portuguese international but they found their replacements in Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele.

Many believed Fernandes wanted out of Sporting but he seems to see his future there. After signing his extension, he told Sporting’s website, “It’s a pride for me and a recognition of my work; it’s a sign that I’m doing things well.

“I have been trying my best to do what is best for the club. It is for what I did on the pitch, but also showed that I liked Sporting CP and took pride in representing the club I represent.

“For me it is, and always will be, a privilege to be here and be able to wear the Sporting CP jersey. You can expect more and better. I promise the same delivery and dedication so we can have more moments of glory as we had last season.”
