Manchester United might be ready to send Nemanja Matic Tottenham’s way in order to complete Christian Eriksen transfer.
The Dane has been heavily tipped to join United after openly refusing to extend his North London stay.
He has maintained that stance even after Jose Mourinho’s arrival. That means Spurs will try to get their losses instead of risk losing him for free next summer. Eriksen could very well be off next month and the Red Devils have given Tottenham an attractive proposition.
Matic himself is unsettled at Old Trafford after dropping down the pecking order. He is no longer prefered over younger players like Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira. The 31-year-old’s United chapter seems to be over and a reunion with former boss, Jose Mourinho looks attractive.
Matic played under Mourinho at both Chelsea and Manchester United. The Portuguese boss won titles with the defensive midfielder. The duo clearly still have a relationship and Mourinho might be open to reuniting with the Serbian.
However, Mourinho also stated earlier that he is happy with the team he inherited. He has the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Eric Dier, Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko to play in the defensive midfield role. There is no clear indication Matic will simply come in and replace everyone to a starting position. Plus, his introduction could force at least one of the names to leave.
