Ashley Young is set to be offered a brand new one year contract by Manchester United. The winger cum fullback has been successfully filling in the right back position and the new offer is a reward for his performance.

Young was the preferred choice in the left back position and featured in 30 matches for the Red Devils but this season the resurgence of Luke Shaw had kept him on the bench in the initial period.

An injury to Antonio Valencia and Diogo Dalot opened a door for the English international to resurrect his United career and the 33 year old’s performance has been pretty solid on the right side of the defence.

United opted to trigger the one year extension clause last March and but there hadn’t been any offer on the table for the veteran player till now. But reports suggested Jose Mourinho is pretty happy with the player’s dedication and is pretty keen to offer him a renewal.

Young also impressed Gareth Southgate with his trickery on the pitch and the Three Lions manager took him to Russia as Young was the pinnacle of his England starting lineup.

With Mourinho sticking to the usual back four set up Young is set to be given a run of few games.
