Manchester United To Replace Ander Herrera With £60m-Rated Spaniard

Spanish news outlet, Marca claims that Manchester United are looking to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder, Rodri.

The Red Devils have recognized the urgent need to find a replacement for the departing Ander Herrera and have decided to pay Rodri’s £60m release clause.

Herrera is set to leave Old Trafford soon if an agreement over a new contract does not fall through by the end of the season. The Spaniard has been a key component in Ole Solskjaer’s midfield component this term, almost earning an ‘irreplaceable’ tag amongst the fans.

However, at 29 years old, the defensive midfielder’s value has also thought to have dropped significantly and his wage demands are far too high for United. They recently handed Anthony Martial a giant £200,000-per-week contract and will have to offer a similar one to attacking starlet, Marcus Rashford as well.

There are far too many big names to accommodate before Herrera can be given what he wants. However, spending a colossal sum like £60m could also hinder United’s chances of making quality signings in the summer.

Rodri has appeared in 39 games for Atletico, netting the ball on 2 occasions. He has stood out this season with his performances from the deep midfield role.

The 22-year-old has the potential to be an ideal fit next to Paul Pogba.
