Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Backs Alexis Sanchez To Return To His Best Form

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer feels Alexis Sanchez still has the potential to change the course of a match single handedly but insisted the Chilean international needs a goal to start the proceedings.

The Chilean’s much anticipated transfer to United from Arsenal sparked excitement among the United supporter but so far he has failed to live up to the expectations.

Persistent injury problems and a horrendous path of form on the field has made Sanchez an odd figure at the Old Trafford especially when the whole team has rejuvenated themselves in this new regime.

With Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard set to miss up to three weeks due to injury concerns it could be the perfect chance for Sanchez to step up the accelerator in a bid to revive his United career.

Solskjaer said, “I think he is a very good player. He is very talented but of course there is only so many things you can sit down and talk about and tweak.

“You saw against Fulham, when he gets his chance, he is so sharp in and around the ball with the way he wins it and with his energy.

“If he could just get that goal, I am sure that would release some of his confidence. That is what it is about when you go through periods when you do not perform up to your standard.

“We know there is a very, very good player there. It is just like a bottle of ketchup when it never comes but suddenly loads comes out.”
