If there ever was any doubt over Paul Pogba’s future at Manchester United, Ole Solskjaer might have pulled the final blow.

The Norwegian boss revealed that Pogba is “nowhere close” to returning for the first team after suffering an injury setback.

Pogba has not featured for the Red Devils since a 4-1 Boxing Day win over Newcastle United. His agent, Mino Raiola and Solskjaer got involved in a war of words over his United future which led to plenty of speculation.

“Paul has not been part of the team training yet,” Solskjaer said ahead of their Europa League fixture against Club Brugge on Thursday. “So, it’ll depend on how he feels or when he feels ready to do that, so he’s not anywhere near that yet.”

Now, whether the Norwegian is speaking specifically about the player’s fitness levels or the recent turn of events surrounding him, is hard to tell.

When Solskjaer suggested that Pogba is an United player, Raiola had tweeted out, “Paul is not mine and for sure not Solskjaer’s property, Paul is Paul Pogba’s. You cannot own a human being already for a long time in the UK or anywhere else. I HOPE Solskjaer DO NOT WANT TO SUGGEST THAT PAUL IS HIS PRISONER.”
