Former United youth player Robbie Savage has said that Brendan Rodgers should be the ideal man to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, should United wield the axe on the Norwegian.

The Red Devils have endured their worst start to the Premier League in 30 years, having won only two out of the first eight games. While Ed Woodward and co have said that Solskjaer will be given enough time to prove himself, the current results might change the CEO’S mind

And, Savage thinks Rodgers is destined for the high office at Manchester United. The Scot previously guided Liverpool on the brink of their first Premier League title, only to lose out to Manchester Coty narrowly back in 2014.

Now with Leicester City, he has done a commendable job in guiding the Foxes to the third place and the possibility of Champions League qualification.

“Brendan Rodgers is leading Leicester City back into the Champions League – and he is a future United manager,” Savage said in the Daily Mirror.

“Don’t get me wrong: When I say Rodgers is destined for high office at United, I am not saying Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be sacked.”

“I am not in favour of football’s hiring-and-firing culture, and Solskjaer deserves time.”

“But I’ve been so impressed by the job Rodgers has done since he took over at the King Power eight months ago that I’m convinced Leicester can finish in the top four.”

United, currently in the 12th place with 9 points from 8 games, are preparing to take on Liverpool at Old Trafford next weekend.
