Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Bayern Munich star

The player is also open to leaving the the Bundesliga side

Manchester United are looking to bolster their squad in the transfer window after an underwhelming campaign last season, not winning a single silverware. They finished second in the Premier League, 19 points behind Manchester City.

The Red Devils are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window and they have already completed three signings, teenage full-back Diogo Dalot has signed from Porto, while a £52.5 million fee has been agreed with Shakhtar Donetsk for Brazil international Fred and Lee Grant from Stoke City.

Despite having the most clean sheets and the second best defensive record in the Premier League last term, Jose Mourinho was not happy as he had to rely on auxiliary full-backs and failed to settle on a consistent central defensive axis due to injuries and inconsistency.

The Portuguese manager is targeting a top class centre-back this summer despite spending big on defenders in the past two years. The club have been heavily linked with a move for Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire but have been put off by their high asking price.

The Premier League giants have also been linked with a move for Barcelona defender Yerry Mina recently, who had a good World Cup campaign and could move for him before the transfer window closes.

Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign £50 million rated Bayern Munich centre-back Jerome Boateng, according to the Daily Mail.

The Germany International joined the German side from Manchester City for a fee of €13.5 million on a four-year deal in 2011. He has been a mainstay in the defense for the club, winning six Bundesliga titles and a Champions League to go with numerous other trophies.

The 29 year old though casted some doubt over his future by admitting that he may look for new challenges and could potentially leave the club. He is contracted with the Bundesliga giants until 2021 but has been linked with a move back to Premier League.

United may now decide to move for Boateng, with Bayern open to selling the 29-year-old.
