Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said that he didn’t want to be drawn in Manchester United’s interest in Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
Yesterday, there was a report of Napoli rejecting a bid of £103 million from Manchester United for Koulibaly.
With Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof injured, Manchester United fielded midfielders Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay as centre-backs.
Jose Mourinho has been eager to sign a centre-back for a while and Koulibaly will be a suitable addition to the squad.
Following Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Southampton, Mourinho was asked about Koulibaly. He said, “I cannot answer to your question. If is true, if is not true, I cannot answer to your question. Maybe your question is the first one about the market and maybe the next press conference I have two more questions, and maybe the next press conference I have three more.
The only thing I can tell you is Koulibaly is a Napoli player. And I don’t speak about players from other clubs.”
Manchester United are currently 7th in the Premier League. Their next match is on Wednesday against Arsenal.
