Manchester United will not sign any forwards in the January transfer window.

Head coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed United cannot sign any new forwards due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.

Anthony Martial will be out for two months after his recent groin surgery and United is left with just Rasmus Højlund as the club’s only recognised striker.

The Red Devils now have limited options in attack and will have to play with a tight squad in the second half of the season.

It has been a quiet month for United and Man United have focused on streamlining the squad rather than bolstering it.

Ten Hag explained that he considered signing a new forward but it seems unlikely at this stage of the season.

“I looked but there is no space,” United boss Ten Hag said. “No space on FFP to do something about this lack of quantity in the striker position.

“Of course, we have (Marcus) Rashford who can play as a striker, I think also we have some other alternatives, creative.

“It’s clear now Anthony is out for a couple of months. It’s a gap in our squad. Clear.”

On the other hand, summer signing Altay Bayindir is set to make his Manchester United debut on Sunday.
