Marcel Sabitzer could seal a permanent deal in the summer.

The Austrian midfielder joined Manchester United on loan from Bayern Munich until the end of this season.

He has been brought as a replacement for the injured Christian Eriksen who will be out for several months.

The 28-year-old has already made five appearances for United this season and has been pivotal to United’s midfield.

According to sources, United are considering a permanent move for the Bayern Munich midfielder.

The Bundesliga giants are demanding £13m for the Austrian and Sabitzer is keen on a permanent move to Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag gave an update on Sabitzer’s future after their victory in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

Ten Hag said: ‘I think it is much too quick [to decide]. [It is] much too soon to talk about that.

‘First, we are in this season and that is where the focus has to be. No distractions for what is coming next season.

‘Only the season we are in. We are in the right position at this moment, this is the position we want to be as we are now competing in three [competitions].’
