Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has conducted his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s clash with Newcastle
Ten Hag was asked for an injury update after the last-gasp 1-0 Europa League group stage win against Omonia Nicosia.
The Dutchman mentioned Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire, who were both injured and missed the encounter at Old Trafford.
Martial appears to have a chance to face the Magpies, but Maguire is not scheduled to return to full training until next week.
“Harry Maguire will not make this, but it doesn’t take long, I think.
“No, no, no. I think that next week he will be back in the team training or over next week.”
Martial has been hampered by injury problems since an impressive pre-season and he has not been able to build on that form from the summer.
Ten Hag had dropped Maguire before he went off on England duty and suffered an injury in the 3-3 draw with Germany.
In terms of his World Cup chances, he has to recuperate fast since he is running out of games to show his health.
England teammate Luke Shaw has been a regular in Ten Hag’s plans recently, and he came off the bench last night with United behind by a goal.
On Sunday, United must provide a more clinical performance against a team that has previously beaten Manchester City and Liverpool this season.
